Male pattern baldness shows a sign of hair loss like thinning crown and a receding hairline will show a distinct V-shape which is prominent than maturing hairline.
The main difference between the two is the distance that the hair has receded. In a hairline which is undergoing male pattern baldness, the hairline typically recedes further than 1.5 cm and will show more significant recession in the temple area.
