The superficial veins are extra and mostly not needed. During the bypass, these veins are utilized and needed by heart and vascular surgeons. Both of the veins are responsible to carry blood back to the heart from the legs. If you are doing any type of physical activity then the calf muscle acts as a peripheral pump. Due to this, it squeezes the veins and it forces blood back to your heart. If you are overweight then put pressure on your body which includes the entire veins. Generally, people do not do exercise which makes the problem worse. If your body mass index is more than 25 then you are at increased risk for this problem.
