After getting a hair transplant surgery, many people like to get a new hairstyle or have a new look. But, this is not what should be done immediately post having a hair transplant. Surgeons say that one must wait for some weeks before using any kind of styling product on your hair. This is because the area needs some time to heal before applying anything on hair and scalp.
New grafts
Mostly the transplanted hair starts to fall out during the first few weeks post surgery. But this is not something to worry much about, because permanent hair will soon be growing in about 26 weeks. Many people get anxious while they find new hair taking so much time in growing. Stress also adds on to hair falling out, hence it is advised that one remains calm during this process.
Shampoo
Your doctors will advise you to avoid shampooing your hair, for 20 days. Once your surgeons advise you to start shampooing your hair you can do it, but prefer to use baby shampoo or a shampoo having ingredients like Purified water, Menthol, Vetiver Oil, Patchouli Oil, Cedarwood Oil or tea tree oil.
Applying heat
The best way to let your hair dry post-treatment is to let your hair dry naturally, rather than drying them with dryers. Dryers are very harmful to hair and will cause more damage to hair. In case you are fond of using a dryer, then keep it in the lowest setting and then use it.
Hair bleach and other cosmetic products
Since hair bleaches and other products are filled with many chemicals so it is best not to use them for at least a month after the surgery.
Styling spray, hair cream, and gels
Many surgeons advise the patient to use these products after 2 weeks post surgery.
They can tell you the best products to be used on your hair. Mousse is known to be helpful after a hair transplant surgery.
Haircuts
Patients healing from hair transplant are recommended to wait for 4 – 5 weeks before getting a hair cut done.
Conclusion
Your doctor is the best person to advise you on your condition of hair, so do not forget to keep following him even after your surgery. They give to keep you posted on the condition of your hair and will also tell you about do’s and don’t s.
