    Does Sports Impact Hair health?

Physical fitness enhances wellness as well as the attractiveness of the whole body. So next time you complain about dull hair, don’t blame your shampoo, it could be your inactive lifestyle taking a toll on your strands. Hair truly reflects the state of your health, so make a note if you have dry, dull or brittle hair. Your hair might be trying to tell you something is amiss. Keep in mind that continuous hair fall calls for hair loss treatment. Failure to cover up the loss might require you to opt for a hair transplant if the loss is extreme.

    Sports and hair

We already know that stress can wreak havoc on your hair. Under stress, the body tends to produce a stress hormone called cortisol, which can lead to hair loss. Doing an exercise or playing outdoor games will lead to a reduction in stress by production of serotonin, a feel-good hormone. It leads to a direct effect on the condition of your hair and skin.

    Hair growth life cycle

Hair’s life cycle consists of three stages. The first stage includes the formation of new hair and its nourishment with blood. This stage lasts for two to eight years. The second stage is characterized by the stoppage of blood supply and elongation. It lasts between two and four weeks. The third stage is also the last stage, in which the hair ceases to feed anymore but stays on the scalp. Very soon after the last stage, the elongation cycle of the hair completes one round. The first stage is started yet again and it involves pushing out of the old hair texture and replacement by new tissue. This process often leads to falling off around 100 hair roots daily, which gives way to new hair for growth.

    Causes of Hair Loss

If the new hair texture is not created after the completion of the hair elongation cycle, then it results in temporary or permanent loss of hair. The following reasons can cause hair loss:

    • Stress
    • Hormonal changes in the body,
    • Some underlying condition or poor health
    • Malnutrition
    • Certain medications

It must be noted that hair loss may be seen as long as 3 months after stressful life events. The hair loss may persist if the stress persists. It may last longer in some people. Medicines used for the treatment of hypertension, heart disease, and depression may also result in temporary hair loss. Hormonal changes may also lead to hair loss in both men and women.

Which sport helps in making your hair healthy?

Cardio training exercises like walking, running, biking and dancing can work wonders for your hair. So can walking on a treadmill or yoga, which helps the person stay calm and collected as well.
