To make your journey after the hair transplant surgery easy our Dr. Vikas Gupta have shared some tips. He is a well-known surgeon to give the best treatment. Here are some points which he always advises patients to follow after the surgery.

Following the hair transplant: First day and week

    • For washing the hair you should use a very mild shampoo and conditioner. Make sure the shower pressure is low and it would be better if you use the traditional method to wash the hair with a mug as it does not put too much on the hair grafts.
    • While washing the hair the water should be warm and be very gentle. If you want you can wash with cold water but the pressure should be very low of the running water.

Tips to take care of hair

    • On the first day of the surgery, keep the scalp dry so that the healing process goes smoothly.
    • Throughout the recovery, the scalp area should be clean. After the surgery, there will be numbness and soreness on the scalp so do not put pressure on the scalp.
    • For the first 3 days, do not touch the transplanted area as it increases the chances of infection.
    • After washing the hair you should not use hair dryers or any type of hair tool as they might disrupt the hair grafts from its position. Additionally, while combing the hair avoid getting the comb in direct contact with the transplanted follicles.
    • Two days following the surgery you should visit your surgeon to get the bandage removed.
    • The first week of the surgery, there will be swelling and to reduce that you should apply an ice pack. You should place it on the forehead or back of the scalp but not on the grafted area.
    • When the scalp is swollen you should avoid getting in the direct sunlight. If it is important then wear a hat if you are leaving in the daytime.
    • After the surgery, you should not involve in strenuous activity or exercise regime. It is better if you wait at least 2 weeks to get back to the working routine.

Keep in mind that following the doctor’s direction will help you get the best possible results of the hair transplantation.
